Description
LIMRA and LOMA is currently recruiting for an Executive Director to oversee the operations and strategy for the Life Insurers Council (LIC).  The LIC membership is comprised of small life insurance companies who seek to share best practices, expand capabilities and foster networking amongst similar sized companies in order to develop their personnel and to increase profitability through premium growth and expense control.  The Executive Director is the executive liaison to the LIC Board of Directors.

The Executive Director is responsible for working with the Board and Staff, establish and execute upon a strategic direction for the organization as agreed upon by the members.  You will have responsibility to achieve financial plans set by the board; continually monitor actuals to forecasts, assure diligent expense management, oversee bank account(s) and annual audit processes and to ensure efficient and effective organization operations with proper controls and governance.

In this role, you will also be responsible to grow and retain membership through a variety of methods including routine conference calls, environmental scans, online references and resources, e-newsletters, member value recaps, semi-annual face-to-face meetings, member Committees, and virtual education sessions

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Significant, broad and relevant life insurance industry expertise and established industry and regulatory contacts as gained through 10 years of industry experience.
  • Dynamic personality that establishes strong credibility with others and maintains excellent relationships
  • Superior knowledge and experience with all functional areas and unique management issues of a smaller life insurance company as gained through 10 of years with a company in the LIC’s member company target market.
  • Superior knowledge and experience of products sold primarily by smaller life insurance companies
  • Excellent analytical skills and financial acumen to cover both GAAP and Statutory financials
  • Superior time management, project management and organizational skills
  • Strong ability to develop teamwork and lead an organization to achieve agreed-upon outcomes
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills, including persuasive verbal discussions
  • Demonstrated success as a strategic leader, including processes that drive strategic plans
  • Demonstrated success as a business leader that achieves financial results
  • 10 years of experience leading people
  • Proficient in all aspects of MS Office
  • Ability to travel (approximately 50% of time)
